  Cao Pi became emperor and founded Wei in AD 220, Liu Bei founded Shu Han in 221, and Sun Quan founded Wu in 229, creating the three-way division of Wei, Shu and Wu.

• Wei Wen's Fleet Reaches Yizhou (Taiwan)AD 230

  In AD 230 Sun Quan, King of Wu, sent the generals Wei Wen and Zhuge Zhi with a fleet of 10,000 men to Yizhou (today's Taiwan), an early clear record of contact between the mainland and Taiwan.
